Puffy Barberry

Puffy barberry is produced by slowly drying whole branches on racks inside covered halls, away from direct sunlight, wind and soil contact. The result is a large, hollow berry with a bright, uniform colour — the highest grade of Iranian seedless barberry and the one most in demand for export. Narvash supplies it laser-sorted and completely free of additives.

What is puffy barberry?

Puffy barberry is the grade of seedless barberry harvested with the branch attached and transferred to covered drying halls. The branches are stacked in layers on purpose-built racks so the fruit dries gradually — shielded from direct sun, wind and contact with soil. Depending on load density, humidity and ventilation, the process takes three to four months.
Because moisture leaves slowly, the skin keeps its shape and the berries stay large, hollow and light, with their bright colour intact. Those two qualities — volume and color — make puffy barberry the most valuable grade of seedless barberry on the market.

Why puffy barberry suits export markets

International buyers, particularly in the GCC and Türkiye, assess barberry visually first: color consistency, berry size, and the absence of foreign matter. Thanks to its controlled moisture and light structure, puffy barberry travels better and darkens far less in transit than sun-dried grades. That makes it the standard choice for retail packs, hypermarket listings and premium restaurants.

Puffy vs anari barberry

The difference is set by harvest and drying. Puffy barberry is cut with the branch and shade-dried; anari is beaten off the shrub and sun-dried on earthen surfaces. That produces clear differences in colour, berry size, shelf life and price

Puffy barberry price and bulk orders

Puffy barberry pricing varies with sorting grade, berry size, moisture content, packaging and order volume, and moves with seasonal supply. It typically trades 30–40% above anari grade. Contact the Narvash export desk for current pricing and bulk quotations.
